Les Seagraves (University of Georgia), 1983-84 Governor

August 1983 - The 28th Annual Circle K International Convention is held for the first time in Atlanta at the Atlanta Marriott (now the Atlanta Sheraton).  The theme was “Atlanta’s the Place to be in ’83.”

Georgia is awarded the International President Service award along with 7 other districts.  This is the first year this award is given out.  Jeffy Jowdy wins first place for the George “Dad” Gray Outstanding Bulletin Award for The Kronicle; this is the first time Georgia has received this award.  The University of Georgia wins first place in Club Achievement, Gold Division.

“During the 1982-83 administrative year, Past Kiwanis Governor and Georgia Circle K Chairman Jack McGraw died suddenly.  The native of Barwick, Georgia attended Florida State majoring in Journalism and Geography.  He was Vice-President and Corporate Secretary of the Pickett-Hatcher Educational Fund in Columbus.  He left behind his wife Lynn and three children.”  (Frank Craven, District History Chair, The Gerogia Kiwanian)
